The problem

In cases of a (earthquakes, flood, etc) a large number of injured civilians are admitted to health care points and require immediate treatment. The healthcare professionals face the challenge in a very short time to perform an accurate diagnosis and proceed with the appropriate treatment (procedures, administering medications etc). The lack of timely access to the patients’ medical record could lead to increasing the diagnosis time and even proceeding with a wrong treatment which can potentially be deadly for the patient (e.g. administering a medication that has side-effects).

eHealthPass is a patient-centered that allow patients to securely carry and manage their complete medical information via their phone. In the case of , the healthcare professionals can obtain instant access to the medical information of the patient thus enabling them to perform an accurate and timely diagnosis and proceed with the appropriate treatment procedures. The medical information is presented in the form of the Patient Summary which comprises key elements of a person’s health profile such as critical problems and conditions, allergies, medication, vaccinations, aiming to serve as a window to a person’s health prior to the .

eHealthPass has been successfully demonstrated in the 5th European Union Module (EU MODEX-Ro) in Bucharest, which was the largest management in the history of the European Union. Additionally, eHealthPass is the only NCP compliant application globally supporting the exchange of Patient Summaries and ePrescriptions across countries in EU.

eHealthpass supports the leading medical standards such as FHIR, HL7, the International Patient Summary proposed by CEN, and adopts interoperable technologies such as XDS. Thereby, at a time of a disaster it enables seamless cross-border transfer of medical information between the EU patients and the health care points.
