Budapest Firefighter Association was re-established in 1994 after the change of regime as the legal successor of the late Budapest Firefighter Association established in 1891.

Budapest Firefighter Association has 15 volunteer fire brigades from Metropolitan Budapest and 7 from other parts of the country as its members with an overall volunteer and career firefighter membership of approximately 1000.

Budapest Firefighter Association has extensive experiences in organising basic and personal protective equipment and technical training courses for both volunteer and corporate firefighters in recent years.

Budapest Firefighter Association has extensive experiences coordinating relief efforts during storms and floods in and around Metropolitan Budapest and even farther even, the latest being the storm causing 3000 incidents in north-east Hungary (near Kisvárda) in the summer of 2019 with over 150 volunteer firefighters.
